Starting with solar

We are pleased to announce that following initial discussions in 2021, the first of our UK sites has successfully fitted solar panels as part of our aim to install alternative energy sources.

Consultations commenced last year with suppliers and consideration was given to panel location, panel type, optimal system size as well as local limitations and restrictions. The optimal system size was calculated to give a solution that would allow the site to utilise as much of the generated electricity as possible during production hours.

Panel installation began in mid-January 2022 and despite some extreme weather and winter storms, was completed in March. Commissioning of the panels was completed in April and will allow the system to generate around 30% of the site's annual electricity usage, reducing site CO₂ emissions by 150 tonnes per year.

Planning applications are currently submitted with local authorities for two further UK sites and we hope to be able to commence installations at these locations in late spring / early summer.
