Highlights of Valve World Expo

Completing 2024 with a successful attendance at the valve industry's must‑attend event.

Monday, January 13, 2025

At the end of last year from the 3rd - 5th December, James Walker once again returned to Valve World Expo in Dusseldorf. Situated in Hall 1 near the main entrance, we had the opportunity to showcase our extensive range of valve sealing solutions joining 500 exhibitors from over 30 countries.

James Walker has a long history serving the valve industry and offers a wide variety of products and services to our customers. We presented some of these at Valve World, and had the opportunity to discuss our latest product developments and the challenges facing the industry.

Key product highlights included:

  • Supagraf 100FXI CS – our latest compression packing offering ‘future-ready’ valve sealing performance.
  • Devlon V-API valve seats – designed to improve flow control and energy efficiency, extending service life and promoting sustainability by reducing waste and lowering energy use. The material's high permeation resistance makes it ideal not just for traditional applications but also for applications in the alternative energy market.
  • High-performance elastomers – formulating and compounding our own elastomers gives us total control and traceability through every stage of the manufacturing process. Our Vermilion® Four compound received particular attention thanks to its world class RGD resistance in CO2 applications.
  • H2 proven gaskets – including Metakamm ActiVate, delivering superior sealing performance for critical heat exchanger, piping, and valve bonnet flange applications. Suitable for use with liquid hydrogen, alternative energy requirements can be met and exceeded.

Our team enjoyed discussing the latest industry trends with customers old and new, recognising the changes presented by new media and innovations designed to optimise sustainability and the future of energy production.

Some of our key takeaways include:

  • Carbon capture and storage – we had numerous conversations about CCUS, the challenges, risks, and new projects being developed globally. Our two white papers [link] on sealing CO2 with packings and elastomers were well received, with growing interest in this area.
  • Environmental impact of leaking valves – conference presentations highlighted the opportunities to reduce emissions throughout the product lifecycle, an industry-wide challenge that was met with enthusiasm.
  • Digitisation and automation – evident throughout the event, new technology including AI is now being integrated and utilised in some applications. These developments highlight the vibrancy and evolution of the valve sector.

Over the course of the event, we spoke to visitors from at least 25 different countries across 5 continents, highlighting the truly international nature of the event.

Thanks again to everyone who visited our stand and to the Valve World team for organising such a fantastic event!
