Polymer Engineering for Energy 2024

API 6A FF/HH sour testing: what are we really testing?

Tuesday, November 19, 2024

James Walker is pleased to announce that Andrew Douglas, our Materials Engineering Group Manager, will present at the AMI Polymers Engineering for Energy conference on Wednesday 4th December in London, UK.

The event takes place on both the 3rd and 4th December and is well established as the leading learning and networking forum for suppliers of polymer-based products and solutions for the energy sector. As the industry diversifies, there is an ever-present requirement for new material solutions for challenging environments and this event focuses on the latest developments for oil and gas, as well as new advances in polymer engineering for the global energy transition, which we are proud to be supporting through various projects and customer partnerships.

Representing James Walker, Andrew is responsible for polymer compound design, material testing and seal failure analysis as well as authoring standards and specifications and the provision of direct customer support.

He has co-authored and presented multiple papers on the subject of low temperature sealing, seal lifetime prediction, RGD resistance, elastomers in the nuclear industry and the behaviour of high performance elastomers in sour environments on behalf of both James Walker and the European Sealing Association.

Andrew is a member of several BSI technical committees focussing on polymeric materials.

Andrew's topic is API 6A FF/HH sour testing: what are we really testing? Andrew is hoping to spark some strong debate by using hard data to examine the significant effect the choice of hydrocarbon liquid phase can have on actual test results. He will present on 4 December 2024 at the Park Plaza Victoria in London, UK. For further information, please visit the event website.
