Walkersele® X‑Gen D10 DL

Wind turbine main bearing lip seal with integrated anti‑contamination lip.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
  • Large diameter turbines
  • Wind

The DL variant of our Walkersele X-Gen D10 seal adds an integral anti-contamination lip to the proven benefits of James Walker’s latest generation rotary seal for large diameter wind turbine applications. This specialised fingerspring energised design is specifically optimised for the sealing of the main bearings of the very largest wind turbines and can cope with dynamic radial eccentricities of up to +/- 1.5 mm (1/16").

By combining the primary lubricant sealing function with protection against the ingress of environmental contaminants in a single seal profile this integrated design simplifies the bearing sealing configuration, reduces component count and saves space / weight by simplifying the design of housing required.

  • Integral anti-contamination lip prevents ingress of particles, protecting the lubrication / seal interface
  • Simplified sealing configuration and reduced component count – no secondary environmental seals required
  • Fingerspring design achieves consistent lip load at even the largest diameters and makes installation simpler than other spring options
  • Long term fatigue testing shows consistent response even at high speed, ensuring the sealing lip remains in contact with the sealing surface at all times
  • Validated to operate at dynamic radial eccentricities of up to +/- 1.5 mm (1/16”) at surface speeds of up to 2 m/s
  • Available in endless or Walkersele® OSJ-D format for on-site joining to radically reduce seal replacement time and costs
  • UK Patented design 2562205
